Profiles by primary cause.
Primary cause is inferred mainly from the dollar-weighted NTEE classifications of reported grantees. It is a research signal, not a foundation-authored priority statement.

Designed to be useful—and difficult to misread.
Who is included
A profile must come from an IRS Form 990-PF filing, report an application or contact path, not mark giving as limited to preselected recipients, contain at least five grants, and show at least $50,000 in reported giving.
What the figures mean
Grant counts and dollars come from each included foundation's latest loaded filing. State is headquarters. Primary cause is derived from reported giving. “Deadline text” means the filing contains a deadline field; it does not certify a current deadline.
What this is not
This is not a census of every private foundation, a live application-status database, an eligibility ruling, or a forecast of funding. IRS filings commonly lag current practice by one to two years.
